Alumni “Grass-on-the-Field” Project

Dear Alumni and Friends of DA,

When the 50^th Anniversary Steering Committee began to plan for an alumni project and asked for suggestions, the overwhelming response was to put grass on the playing field.  During the past few years, several artificial grass fields have been installed in Senegal, and our soccer teams have had the pleasure of playing on them.  The products, technology and expertise is now available to us to make this dream a reality; now all we need is your help to make it financially feasible.

The “Grass-on-the-Field” Project includes artificial grass and a rubberized track around the perimeter.  We hope to raise $350,000.00; this amount may also be sufficient to add lighting and seating.

The newer artificial grass products have been shown to be safer than earlier products, and, while they are guaranteed for ten years, actual field life can be as long as thirty years.  This option reduces the amount of ongoing maintenance costs and, more importantly, does not rely on the large amounts of water that a real grass field would require.

Would you like to make a lasting gift to future generations of DA students?    There are 7,800 square yards on the field.  A donation of $50.00 would purchase a square yard of “grass” (including preparation and installation costs).  Any amount would move us a step closer to our goal. 

Donations are being handled through WorldVenture (formerly the Conservative Baptists), one of Dakar Academy’s owning missions.  They will be able to send receipts for donations as tax-deductible charitable donations.  You may make your donation online or by mail.
