-
Continue good study habits
– you will be receiving more long term assignments and projects, and
procrastinating will catch up with you!
-
Get organized! An
assignment notebook and an organized binder will be essential to keeping
up with all your courses.
-
Participate in
extracurricular activities that interest you – colleges prefer
consistent involvement in a few activities for 2-3 years rather than
“dabbling” in a lot of activities for a short period of time.
-
Keep your
Activities Resume
updated.
-
Start some online college
searches and investigate a variety of majors. See the
Guidance Links for
some great search websites.
-
Continue to read daily to
improve your vocabulary and comprehension.
-
Take every opportunity to
get feedback on your writing – seek to make fewer errors in the
technical aspects, especially spelling and grammar. (Hint: read your
work out loud – it’s a great way to find errors.)
-
Visit colleges if you will
be home during the summer.
-
Take the
PSAT in October – it will be
good practice, it doesn’t cost much, and you will get your test booklet
back so you can find out which questions you missed – and why.
-
Plan your course schedule
for your 11th and 12th grade years to make sure you can fit in all the
courses you want to take, especially if you want to fit in
AP Courses before you
graduate.
