There are a variety of standardized and college entrance tests given at Dakar Academy. Clicking on the links below will take you to the home page for each test.

PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)

Who:

10th and 11th graders (American 11th graders qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition)

When:

Saturday, October 15, 2006, 8:00 a.m. to noon

Cost:

US$13

Registration:

Pay in Business Office (in cfa or dollars) and bring receipt to Guidance Office to register

Registration Deadline: Friday, September 29, 2006

SAT

Who:

11th or 12th graders

When:

Saturday, October 14, 2006
May 5, 2007  
Note: ISD gives the SAT in Dec and June if those dates are more convenient for you.

Cost:

US$62.50 for the SAT I, SAT II fees vary

Registration:

*DA students will be asked to register online.  You may pay in the Business Office, bring the receipt to the Guidance Office, and then Mrs. Aisenbrey will register online for you, using the school’s credit card.  Results are available online about 2 weeks after the test for online registrations only.

Registration Deadline: September 12 for the October 14th test
March 29 for the May 5th test (DA students register before leaving for spring break March 17)

ACT

Who:

11th or 12th graders who plan to go to a school that requires the ACT instead of or in addition to the SAT.

When:

Saturday, October 28, 2006

Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007

Also given at ISD in December and June

Cost:

US$47.00, payable in the Business Office

Registration:

Bring your receipt to Mrs. Aisenbrey to register for the test. 
*You must fill out the registration packet in advance of the test.

AP Exams

Who:

Students enrolled in Advanced Placement classes

When:

Dates are tentative; no student will have to take two (2) exams in one day:
May 7-11, 2007

Cost:

$82 per test

Registration:

Students will be asked to notify their AP teacher by the end of 3rd quarter if they plan to take the test. Payment should be made to Business Office by May 1 (first day of tests).

CLEP  (College Level Examination Program) NEW FALL 2005

Who: These are computer-based tests in over 30 subjects, and results are accepted for college credit at many institutions; check with your college to see if they accept CLEP credits, how many and in what subjects

Cost:

US$60 per test plus $15 administration fee

TOEFL check online at www.toefl.org for available test dates at Test Center D506, the West African Research Center (located in the Fann neighborhood).

Who:

International students who speak English as a 2nd language planning to attend a university in North America may be required to take the TOEFL
*This is an expensive test – be sure that the school(s) to which you’ll be applying actually require it. Some schools accept good SAT or ACT verbal scores instead, or a letter from DA stating your attendance at an English-speaking school.

When:

It is given four (4) times during the school year at the West African Research Center (Test Center D506)

Cost:

Cost is still $140 for internet-based testing.

Registration Deadline: About 5 weeks before test
Stanford Achievement Tests Grade 1-10 standardized tests. The Stanford tests will be offered at Dakar Academy in April 2008. ACSI, in cooperation with Harcourt Educational Measurement, offers the Christian school version which includes a Bible assessment.
