DA Co-op Campuses

Dakar Academy campus and student community.

A Co-op Campus is a one-room schoolhouse facilitated by Dakar Academy with teachers and Kindergarten-8th grade students learning in a multi-age environment. Our Co-op Campus program brings everything great about Dakar Academy Schools to you. Co-op Campus teachers live full-time in the community they serve and are passionate about providing a quality Christian education to families who live and work outside of the Dakar metropolitan area and in countries across West Africa.

The goal of the Co-op Campus program is to creatively fulfill the mandate of Dakar Academy Schools, “So All Can Serve,” by meeting parents of K-8 students where they are.

Co-ops are traditionally implemented where there is a small student population in a missionary community. A rural Co-op may only have a handful of students, while more urban Co-ops may have over 20 students. Co-op Campus teachers will work with participating families to provide instruction that meets the needs of all students, which may include creating a daily, weekly, and yearly schedule that reflects the unique rhythm of the local community and involving parents of participating families as teachers for specific classes. Co-op teachers may work independently or with one or two other Co-op Campus teachers, depending on the student population.
